Victory and Defeat for Takala in the FIP Promises Tournament in Spain
In Valencia, Spain, the FIP Promises tournament is being held, offering young padel talents the opportunity to compete and develop in an international environment.
The tournament has four series categories divided by age groups: boys' and girls' series under 12, under 14, under 16, and under 18 years old.
The 16-year-old Finnish padel star Joa Takala played in Valencia in the under 18 category together with the Swede Filip Sterner.
Takala and Sterner started their tournament on Saturday, January 11, 2025, directly from the second round, where they faced the Spanish duo Oscar Mendoza and Beni Gomez. The match ended with a clear victory for Takala and Sterner with scores of 6-2, 6-2.
Later on Saturday evening, Takala and Sterner faced a very strong Spanish duo in the quarterfinals, Sergio Tierno and Guillermo Fernandez, who took the match with scores of 6-1, 6-4.
The tournament's semifinals and final will be played on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
